(July) Radio Days

Due to ‘holiday’ period this will be a relatively short ’round-up’….

Pretty quiet, spoke to 2M0IOB Roddy, 2M0 Patsy and MM0 Graham on occasion. I’ve been monitoring S20 a bit more this month.

SOTA Activity for July

Very quiet month, no activations on my part and one one recorded ‘chase’, Roddy 2M0IOB was portable on the summit of  Cairnsmore of Fleet, this month at least, Roddy has left the virgin SOTA summits of our area alone.

I had headed up Corlic Hill to combine a bit of exercise as well as catch Roddy on air. Read Roddy’s blog post on this hill activation <HERE>

Nothing great to report, mostly European stations with the odd station outside Europe.  Contact into OX and JH land were the highlights of the month.

Not much really to report but plans afoot for the winter months on the antenna front, both home and portable.

Have towards the very end of the month started to dabble in WSPR, a lot of experimentation will have to be done to find out the best times to choose what band, time etc. I think this could be a worthwhile project both in transmit and receive, I will eventually set up the 817 as the power on this can be set to half a watt. Interesting times ahead !!!
