The special prefix ‘A’ for Alba that was issued via NOV (Notice of Variation) to Scottish radio amateurs to celebrate the Homecoming Scotland event has now been deactivated, the prefix had been allowed to being in use up to midnight on 30th November (St.Andrews Day).
I used the call, mostly on HF…I reverted back to GM in mid November.
On reflection, I found that only a few stations specifically worked myself for the prefix although the response was not as much as I expected and as I have been using data mostly, GA actually showed up in HRD’s DM 780 log entry as England.
It was unusual to use the call although a permanent move to ‘A’ instead of M would have been interesting, the ‘AA’ part has already been allocated to the US of A. Pity !
